In honor of the 10th Anniversary of the DANCE albums, Keller has decided to give away a free download of his “Laugh” remix project for a limited time. Here’s a note from the man himself:
“Hello music loving Freeks. About 10 years ago, I began working on my 7th record, ‘Home’. It was to be the follow up to my record ‘Laugh’. Unfortunately, the fine folks at SCI Fidelity records informed me that they weren’t even close to finished pushing the ‘Laugh’ record to radio stations, and anything else that I would record would have to wait until the plan for ‘Laugh’ was done. I was bummed…for at least a day.
Then I got the crazy idea to do a remix of ‘Laugh’. The label agreed, and I jumped right into sessions with a mad musical scientist (engineer, producer) named Jeff Covert. He and I had almost completed ‘Home’ by this time, and watching him work his crazy magic with the computer made me confident that with my ideas and his computer skills, this record could be rad.
The idea was to extract my favorite samples from the ‘Laugh’ and create new tracks around those samples. With Dave Watts on drums and Tye North on bass, being the total badasses that they are, it was easy to find samples. I had more than enough. The creative process was a blast.
The end result was a record called ‘Dance’ that I am extremely proud of and even more proud to re-release it as I originally intended for it to be heard. The entire record as one continuous track! And to celebrate 10 years of its existence, I am ecstatic to announce that for a very short time, you can have it…for Free! After that, the one track download will continue to be an option along side the cd and single track downloads at the discounted price of $6.99. A HUGE thank you goes to SCI Fidelity Recordsfor allowing this to happen.
Now excuse me while I shut up and DANCE. Please enjoy. – KW”
FREE one continuous album download of DANCE will be available via SOUNDCLOUD ONLY starting Tuesday, July 30th through Thursday, August 1st. Immediately after the FREE giveaway period ends, the continuous album download option will be available for $6.99 at Keller’s online merch store.
Today, The Infamous Stringdusters launch the world premier of their video for “Rockets”, exclusively at CMT Pure. Watch the video here and below. The television premier of the video will take place tonight (4/16), just before 8:30 PM ET on the network’s “CMT Edge” (check local listings).
The song “Rockets” – from the band’s most recent double-disc release, Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition (SCI Fidelity Records, October 16, 2012) - potently demonstrates a band blurring the lines between bluegrass playing technique, pop songwriting sensibilities and country music storytelling. The video, like the song/album, was produced (and filmed and edited) by unlikely partner – hip-hop producer Billy Hume (Ludacris, Nas). Look for The Infamous Stringdusters on tour this spring and summer. The band’s complete list of tour dates can be found HERE.

Built on a foundation of beats evoking vinyl breaks, house, and big-beat, the album is a funky dance party from start to finish. The unmistakable sound of a tight live band is at the heart of the album. Lotus has spent years rocking live crowds and that energy is distilled to a strong studio concentrate of body-moving beats and muscular melodies.
Get your copy of Build now on CD, Vinyl or digitally at the Lotus online store, your local record store, or at an upcoming Lotus show near you. You can alsofind Build on iTunes, Amazon.com and digital retailers everywhere!
Keller Williams is pleased to announce he has once again partnered with the Rex Foundation and taken to his piano to create KEYS: A Collection of Grateful Dead Covers on Piano to Benefit the REX Foundation.
Playing ten not-so-traditional covers of Grateful Dead classics such as “Touch of Grey,” and “Wharf Rat,” listeners will be exposed to Williams’ piano man side. Much like Williams’ previous Dead-themed release, Grateful Grass, purchasers will have the opportunity to revisit some of the Dead’s material in a unique way. KEYS will be available for digital purchase exclusively on iTunes beginning February 12, 2013 and 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit the Rex Foundation.
GO HERE to purchase KEYS on iTunes now, and enjoy a preview of “Terrapin Station” via the SoundCloud player below!
Read below for Williams’ thoughts on this special project. Whether you’re a Keller fan, a Dead fan or both…this album has something for everyone.
“It’s no secret I have an unhealthy fascination with the Grateful Dead. Whenever I sit down at the piano it seems the only thing that comes out are Jerry ballads. Even though these songs are not all Jerry ballads, I have sort of made them that way. The lyrics, although I’ve been singing them most of my adult life, are not 100% perfect. Like any other music I play, I’ve taken liberties. All of the proceeds from the sale of these songs goes to support the Rex Foundation, which was started by the Grateful Dead, in the 80′s, so you can feel good about that!
